Christmas in Southwest Florida

Christmas in Southwest Florida is so different! We put up our decorations in shorts and flip flops! You will see lights in the front, on the houses just like you do at home. But you will also see lights in the back yards on the seawall and on the boats, reflecting in the water. We don't have sleigh rides; we have boat cruises, boat parades and regular street parades. There are commercial boat tours that will take you into the canals and you can see the back yards and lanais with lights; reflecting in the water, it is just beautiful!

We have Christmas parades that are several miles long, the watchers on the curbs in shorts fanning themselves, the participants breaking a sweat while marching down the street, throwing candy, and waving. Everyone has shorts on except Santa; he steadfastly refuses to trade in his Santa suit for Santa shorts!

These photos are from Christmas' past, I will be adding photos from the area as the month progresses, check back often.
